PromoWest Productions, Inc., a concert and special event promotion and production firm, was started by David in 1984. David was in charge of both daily operations and the technical production needs of the touring acts as Vice-President and Co-Owner of the company. Every year, David organizes over 250 concerts and events in venues ranging from small 1700-seat theaters to multi-day outdoor festivals with over 200,000 attendees.

David launched The Scarefactory, Inc. in 1993, a three-dimensional design and production studio that combines art and technology to create incredible animated monsters and their environments.

In 1994, PromoWest was one of three partners in the Polaris Amphitheater, which cost $22 million. David spent the majority of the project's construction phase on-site. He went on to produce The Eagles, Janet Jackson, and Phil Collins, among others, for the first season.

In 1995, David founded his own theme park, which he currently co-owns with Six Flags.

In 1996, the first catalog line of characters and props for the theme park industry was released.

David and Alice welcomed Cameron into the world on July 17, 1997. David is still producing shows, such as stadium dates for U2's Popmart Tour and The Rolling Stones' Bridges to Babylon Tour. When the concert industry merged in 1998, SFX, Inc. purchased the Polaris Amphitheater. David sells his PromoWest shares in order to devote his full attention to The Scarefactory, Inc.

The Scarefactory has served around 250 clients annually since 1998. Disney, Universal, Paramount, Ripley Entertainment, and Six Flags are just a few of our current clients.

The 12th Duke's Edinburough Dungeons and Dragon Quest at Alnwick Castle in Northumberland for the 12th Duke and his family are notable projects in the UK.

In 2006, David was asked to construct roughly 180 pirates to advertise the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride and retail displays in Disney World, Disney Land, Disney Cruise ships, and landmark retail sites.

The History Channel approached David in 2008 to advertise his company's unique design and fabrication skills.
The company built and operated attractions in more than 40 countries in 2014.
To satisfy increased demand for its products and services, the Company expanded again in 2017, relocating into larger 73,000 square-foot studios.
